Fees are including all conference activities, conference documents, conference reception and conference dinner, lunch and refreshments. 

The expense of every single meal is less than 60 €.

Event preparation and organisation are associated with financial and human resources. We ask for your understanding, that cancellations up to six weeks prior to the event will be charged with a service fee of 50 % of the participation fee. In case of later cancellation or no-show, 100 % of the participation fee will be charged.

For presenters: The inclusion of accepted papers in the final programme requires that the payment of the registration fee is received not later than 31 January 2022.

Terms of Cancellation

Cancellation of participation can only be refunded if the cancellation is received in time:

by 29 May 2022: 50% of the participation fee
from 30 May 2022: no refund possible

The participation fee for presenting authors (for all kinds of presentations) whose papers were accepted for the programme cannot be refunded in any case.

Technical Visit to BAM, NDT department

The visitors will be welcomed at BAM, the Federal institute for Materials Research and Testing, which celebrated its 150th anniversary last year.  Among other things, BAM is responsible for the certification of transport and storage containers of radioactive waste in Germany. The visit will focus on a lab and demonstration tour in the NDT department, including

  • Various NDT methods, e. g. ultrasound and acoustic emission
  • Radiography/CT  for very small and very large objects
  • Fiber optic radioactivity sensing
  • NDT and monitoring in civil engineering
  • Robotic platforms for sensors and NDT
  • The visitors will have a chance to discuss directly with BAM’s researchers and research managers

Visit the experimental hall of BESSY II in Berlin-Adlershof

BESSY II is a third-generation synchrotron radiation source that produces extremely bright X-ray light. Researchers from all over the world can use this light for their experiments. BESSY II is a universal tool for studying an endless variety of samples, for example solar cells, materials for solar hydrogen production and quantum materials. Proteins can be studied for the development of new medicines, and meteorites and archaeological finds can be investigated using the soft X-ray light from BESSY II.

Experimental Reactor BER II

Guided tour through the experimental halls around the research reactor

The Berlin Experimental Reactor BER II of Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) reached the end of its planned lifecycle and was shut down permanently at the end of 2019. HZB’s dismantling team will spend the next few years developing the exact plans for the dismantling in every detail. The plan is for BER II to be fully dismantled by the end of the 2020s.

Corona Protection Measures

In Germany, and thus also in Berlin and Brandenburg, most of the measures relating to the corona virus have been lifted. 

Nevertheless, for your own safety and the protection of others, we recommend that you follow the basic hygiene rules (Keep your distance wherever possible, wash/disinfect your hands, avoid close physical contact).

Visa required?

Visitors for many non-EU countries need a visa.

You should apply immediately to the German consular office or embassy in your country in order to avoid delay and other inconveniences. The visa application procedure can take up to severeal months.

Official Invitation

Holders of some passports may require an official invitation to obtain a visa.

We assist you by processing an official invitation letter on request. Therefore we need the following information:

  • Full name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Passport number

After payment of the registration fee, we will process your request for issuing the official invitation. We will send it to you by e-mail. If you need the hard copy of the invitation letter by express delivery service, we will charge a service fee of 100.- €.
